Helen: Battered Not Broken
EDEN VALLEY, MN - Helen Grothe would often pray for her husband to stop abusing her.
In 1984, her and her husband were in a tragic car accident that killed him and left her with a broken leg. Over thirty years later, Grothe channels the pain she physically and emotionally felt from her traumas to share her story with others through Toast Masters International, a worldwide organization that aims to help members improve their communication, public speaking, and leadership skills. Grothe has won numerous awards for speeches she has told about her experience.
